The community football tournament, "Cascarita en tu Colonia", organized by Aguakan, the water and sewage service provider in Benito Juarez, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Morelos, and Solidaridad municipalities in Quintana Roo, has successfully concluded. The event was marked by a spirit of enthusiasm and camaraderie.
The tournament attracted 400 players, forming 40 teams of 10 members each. Teams were divided into Sub 9, Sub 11, Sub 17, and Open categories, with both male and female divisions. Alejandra Mayorga, Aguakan's Social Responsibility Coordinator, highlighted the importance of promoting sports among children and young people, and reiterated the company's commitment to the communities it serves.
"Cascarita en tu Colonia" aims to encourage physical activity and provide a safe leisure space for families and neighbors. It promotes social integration and strengthens community bonds. Mayorga announced that Aguakan has planned other activities for the remainder of the year, including the Water Rally at Ventura Park next week, and traditional Christmas gatherings.
The winning teams of this year's tournament were:
- Sub 9 Category: Atlético Deportivo 259 from Cancún
- Sub 11 Category: Dorados from Isla Mujeres
- Sub 17 Category: Cancún Representative Team
- Open Female Category: Soccer Stars from Cancún
- Open Male Category: Isla Mujeres Representative Team
