An official notice in Spanish from the Finance and Planning Secretariat of Quintana Roo, Mexico, stating a temporary ban on alcohol sales due to electoral events from June 1 to June 2, 2024, with exceptions for certain licensed establishments.

Starting from the stroke of midnight on June 1, the sale of alcoholic beverages will be restricted in Quintana Roo. This restriction is a part of the electoral process, put in place to ensure the smooth running of proceedings on June 2. The Quintana Roo Government will enforce this ban, known as the Dry Law, from the first minute of June 1 until the last minute of June 2.

Businesses are strongly encouraged to comply with this restriction to avoid any potential penalties. The only exceptions to this ban are establishments located in tourist areas that also hold a restaurant and bar license. In other words, alcohol can only be purchased in tourist area establishments that also offer food sales.
