The United Transporters organization has declared a nationwide strike for Friday, June 28, starting at 8:00 AM. The group plans to use heavy vehicles to obstruct numerous highways, roads, toll booths, and airports across the country.

The United Transporters announced the strike via social media, citing non-payment for basaltic rock supplies used in the construction of the Maya Train as the cause. They are demanding authorities pay 90,000,000 Mexican pesos for the materials already supplied. As part of the protest, they aim to block entrances to the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena), specifically fronts 4, 6, and 7, which are overseen by Lieutenant Gabriel Jesús Lomelí Vera, Major Oswaldo Osorio Peñaflor, Colonel Mario de Jesús Acevedo Hernández, and contractors Ulises Ortiz Lozada and Nicolás Placencia. Sedena assumed control of the Maya Train project in September 2023 by presidential decree.

The United Transporters have stated that approximately 130 gondola-type trailers will be used to block several key locations. These include Sedena's Front 7 in Xul-Ha, Bacalar; federal highways 186 and 307; the Chetumal Huay-Pix highway; the junction to the Tulum Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport; Cancún International Airport; and the Mérida-Cancún toll booth near Chichén Itzá. Additional blockades are planned for the toll booths at the old entrance to Veracruz Puerto, Amoxoc-Puebla, Mexico-Puebla, Mexico-Pachuca, Mexico-Querétaro, Mexico-Cuernavaca, and all entrances to Mexico City (CDMX).

Given the expected closures and blockades, the public is advised to take precautions due to the anticipated traffic disruptions at the specified locations. It is hoped that authorities will take swift action to resolve the dispute and minimize inconvenience for both citizens and transporters.
