A 43-year-old resident of Telchac Pueblo, known as L.V.L., successfully evaded an extortion attempt. The alleged extortionists, who claimed to be members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), demanded a protection fee of 40,000 pesos. They gave him a limited time to make the payment. The incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 3:30 pm, when L.V.L. received a call from the number 9903097525.

The caller, who had an unfamiliar accent, insisted that the payment was necessary for the safety of L.V.L.'s family. This understandably alarmed him. To ensure his family's safety, he immediately contacted his relatives who confirmed they were unharmed. Realizing there was no immediate danger, he reported the call to the authorities and sought advice on how to proceed.

Shortly after, local police officers arrived at his home, followed by agents from the public security department. They advised him not to answer any further calls from that number and refrain from making any payments. Despite two more attempts from the same number to reach him, L.V.L. heeded the advice, ignored the calls, and blocked the number to prevent any further threats.

In such situations, it's recommended to stay calm, avoid sharing personal information, block any suspicious numbers, and promptly report the incident to the authorities.
