In Playa del Carmen, an American man and a Mexican national have been detained on suspicion of drug possession. The two individuals were apprehended by the Municipal Police of Solidaridad, who also seized what is believed to be a quantity of marijuana. This action was part of increased prevention and surveillance efforts in the Centro neighborhood.

The arrest was made by members of the Specialized Group for Combating Extortion. They were conducting security patrols along Primera Avenue when they noticed the two individuals engaging in what appeared to be a drug exchange. Upon inspection, they discovered 35 packages of a substance suspected to be marijuana.

The detainees were identified as Alejandro, a 30-year-old originally from Texas, and Ángel, a 22-year-old local resident. Both have been handed over to the Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Combating Drug Trafficking Crimes for further investigation.
