Ana Paty Peralta, the municipal president, has announced a landmark collaboration between the cities of Cancún and Málaga. Both cities share a profound appreciation for art, culture, and innovation. This partnership further establishes Cancún as a vacation destination that continually evolves, inspires, and captivates.
The General Protocol of Action was signed between the municipalities of Benito Juárez and Málaga during the second day of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2025 in Madrid, Spain. This alliance has paved the way for Cancún to host its first-ever exhibition of works by the renowned artist Pablo Picasso. The exhibition will be held at the iconic Maya Museum in Cancún's Hotel Zone.
In addition to the exhibition, Peralta revealed plans for a mural inspired by Picasso's legacy at Playa Delfines. This public beach, known for its pristine sea and sand, proudly holds the "Blue Flag" distinction. The mural will further enhance this city landmark.
Peralta emphasized that Cancún is more than a place to visit; it's an experience to enjoy. The city offers quality service, hospitality, and a genuine connection to its people and culture. The Picasso exhibition and mural at Playa Delfines are part of this cultural offering.
Cancún, with its connections to 134 countries and the country's busiest international airport, continues to lead as a global destination. The city provides a diverse range of offerings, including sports, cultural, and gastronomic events.
The agreement was signed with Francisco de la Torre Prados, the mayor of Málaga, and other key officials from both cities. The mayor of Málaga noted that this collaboration would also enable the exchange of best practices in sustainable tourism, culture, and city management.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration between Mexico and Spain, particularly in the tourism sector. The Municipal Secretary of Tourism, Juan Pablo de Zulueta Razo, also highlighted Málaga's reputation as a tourist city, home to Picasso's birthplace and 233 of his works. This agreement marks the beginning of a significant alliance between the two cities.
