Tulum, Quintana Roo — A violent armed attack in the 2 de Octubre neighborhood of Tulum left two people wounded, including a minor, according to preliminary reports. The incident occurred on Aurora Street, between 8th Street and a dirt road, approximately two blocks from an area locally known as "El Elefante."
Minor Among the Victims
One of the injured is a minor who sustained two gunshot wounds to the arm. Paramedics provided first aid at the scene before transporting the child to a hospital for further treatment. The minor's current condition remains unknown.
The second victim, an adult male, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Emergency responders stabilized him before rushing him to a medical facility for specialized care. Unofficial reports indicate his condition is grave, though authorities have not released an official statement.
Investigation Underway
Municipal police cordoned off the area to preserve evidence, while forensic specialists from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) processed the scene. Investigators collected spent shell casings and other materials to build the case file.
Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots before seeing the victims calling for help. Residents expressed concern over rising violence in the area, which had previously experienced relative calm despite its high marginalization status.
Suspects at Large
Authorities confirmed the assailants fled immediately after the shooting. No arrests have been made in connection with the attack. In response, local and state law enforcement have increased patrols in the 2 de Octubre neighborhood to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent further violence.
The incident adds to growing security concerns in Tulum, where recent violent events have left residents on edge.
