In celebration of Flag Day and with a focus on promoting respect for national symbols and civic values, the Isla Mujeres City Council, led by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, successfully held the Third Escoltas Contest 2025. The event took place at the Bicentenary Dome in La Gloria colony, gathering 13 escoltas groups from local elementary, middle, and high schools.

Throughout the event, students showcased their discipline and dedication, impressing civic, military, and municipal authorities present. Mayor Atenea Gómez highlighted the significance of instilling values such as discipline and teamwork from a young age in her address to the participants. She expressed her confidence in the future, stating, "Each one of you represents the future of Isla Mujeres and our country. The knowledge that our future lies in the hands of disciplined, responsible, and patriotic youth reassures us that we are on the right track."

A panel of civic and military education experts judged the escoltas, grading them on precision, coordination, and respect for national symbols. Prizes were given to the top-performing escoltas in each category, with special awards for the best standard-bearer and the best sergeant at each educational level. All participating institutions were also recognized for their efforts in promoting national identity and civic culture in Isla Mujeres.

The Isla Mujeres government remains committed to education and the instilling of values in children and young people. They continue to support activities that foster a sense of belonging and pride in being Mexican.
