Atenea Gómez, a candidate for the municipal presidency of Isla Mujeres, has pledged her commitment to the welfare of children and youth. She has joined the national initiative #CandidaturasXLaNiñez2024, which is championed by World Vision Mexico.

Gómez is part of the "Sigamos Haciendo Historia" coalition, which includes the Morena, PVEM, and PT parties. The coalition has signed eight commitments to uphold the rights of children, adolescents, and youth, and to continue working towards their well-being.

Gómez emphasizes that children and youth are a top priority in her transformation project for Isla Mujeres. She believes they are key to building a better municipality.

As part of her campaign, Gómez proposes building more playgrounds and sports facilities. She also plans to establish the House of Arts and Isleña Culture, which will benefit the young people of the island.

Among the commitments Gómez has made is to promote the rights of children and youth to participate and have their opinions heard. She aims to strengthen efforts to protect them from all forms of violence, sexual and labor exploitation. Additionally, she plans to promote mental health and life skills for the younger generation.
