Atenea Gómez Ricalde, a mayoral candidate for Isla Mujeres under the "Let's Continue Making History" coalition, has proposed a plan to revitalize Hacienda Mundaca. This historic site is considered a treasured landmark on the island.
Gómez Ricalde's campaign focuses on promoting responsible tourism that fosters shared prosperity and well-being. She plans to implement renovation projects that will continue the transformation of the island's second floor.
The candidate represents a coalition composed of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), the Ecological Green Party of Mexico (PVEM), and the Labor Party (PT). She is committed to restoring and enhancing public spaces to boost the island's tourism and provide recreational areas for local families.
The revitalization of Hacienda Mundaca is a key part of her campaign. Visitors will be able to explore the gardens filled with exotic plants and delve into the captivating history of the pirate and his unrequited love.
Gómez Ricalde plans to integrate this site into the existing tourist attractions available to the thousands of tourists who visit Isla Mujeres daily. This initiative follows other successful projects, such as the renovation of the Punta Sur Sculpture Park.
