Tulum, Quintana Roo — In coordinated operations across Tulum and Chetumal, security forces seized narcotics, firearms, and a vehicle while arresting six individuals suspected of involvement in drug-related crimes. The raids were conducted by the State Attorney General’s Office in collaboration with the Mexican Army, Navy, National Guard, and the Secretariat of Citizen Security as part of a broader strategy to dismantle small-scale drug trafficking networks operating in southern Quintana Roo.
Four Raids Yield Significant Seizures
The operations were executed under court-issued search warrants. In Tulum, investigators stormed a bar on Mercurio Oriente Street, where they located substances resembling marijuana, cocaine, and crystal meth, along with firearms, live ammunition, and a metal grinder. Five men—identified as Iván “N,” José Manuel “N,” Cecilio “N,” Miguel “N,” and Edwin Darío “N”—were detained nearby for alleged ties to drug trafficking.
A second raid took place at a residence on Saturno Street in Tulum’s Centro neighborhood, where authorities confiscated a loaded firearm, multiple doses of a crystalline substance, ammunition, and a Jeep SUV.
A third operation unfolded at a property on Tankah Street in the Antal condominium complex along the coast. Investigators recovered marijuana, crystal meth, two digital scales, and a cell phone as part of an ongoing probe into narcotics distribution.
In Chetumal, a fourth raid was carried out in the Mártires de Antorchistas neighborhood. Officers discovered marijuana, crystalline substances, a cell phone, a digital scale, and surveillance equipment. Nearby, authorities intercepted a suspicious exchange between two individuals; one fled, but Johnny Salvador “N” was apprehended while carrying dried herb resembling marijuana and a pink rock-like substance similar to crack cocaine. Preliminary investigations suggest the detained individual is linked to a criminal group believed to fuel violence in the region.
Suspects Face Legal Proceedings
All detainees were handed over to the Specialized Attorney’s Office for Combating Drug Trafficking, which will determine their legal status within the constitutional timeframe.
The operations underscore ongoing efforts to disrupt narcotics networks in Quintana Roo, a state grappling with organized crime activity. No further details regarding the suspects’ identities or potential charges were immediately released.
