The Public Services Department in the municipality of Benito Juarez is preparing for the impending seaweed season. They have initiated a training program for their staff to enhance the cleaning operations during this macroalgae influx.

José Antonio de la Torre Chambé, the department's director, revealed that they currently have 250 members ready to collaborate with the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone (Zofemat) staff to tackle this environmental issue. "We're already preparing. We have sufficient personnel to handle it, and we've started training because it's crucial to be well-prepared to manage the situation," he stated confidently.

He further mentioned that they are also coordinating with state and federal authorities. The goal is to identify priority areas and strategic timings for intervention. "The seaweed season commences in April. As Mayor Mara Lezama has pointed out, committees are already being established to plan the necessary actions for potential mass arrivals," he added.

At present, some areas of the municipality's beaches have traces of seagrass, while natural coastal cleaning is aided by North phenomena. However, the department is maintaining continuous surveillance to monitor this phenomenon closely.
