A can collector in Tulum experienced a horrifying moment when he discovered a lifeless body in a green area near the Chivero cenote. The grim discovery was reported to the authorities around 8 p.m.
The body was found on Sayil Street, between Balam Dzakab and Ixchel Avenues, within the well-known Aldea Zamá complex. The road connects to the cenote, a natural pit or sinkhole that is a common feature in the area.
Upon receiving the report, the State Police and the National Guard were immediately dispatched to the location. After a brief search, and with the assistance of the can collector, they were able to locate the body.
The deceased was a shirtless man, seated in a position that suggested he had been dead for at least five hours. He was later identified as Nicolás Fernando "N", a 26-year-old man from San Antonio Bulujib, in the municipality of Chilón, Chiapas.
Following the discovery, the Investigation Police and Forensic Services personnel arrived on the scene to take control of the situation. After following due process, the body was transported to the Forensic Medical Service. There, examinations will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
