Breathalyzer Tests Return to Tulum: New Hours and Locations

After a six-year hiatus, breathalyzer tests are being reintroduced in Tulum in an effort to reduce alcohol-related accidents across the city. The Traffic, Health, and Civil Protection Departments will oversee the operation, which will be implemented during the winter season.

The decision to reintroduce the breathalyzer tests comes ahead of the festive period in December, a time when alcohol consumption tends to increase. This rise in drinking can often lead to a higher likelihood of accidents, prompting the need for preventative measures like the breathalyzer tests.
