A bus driver from the Del Valle company lost control of his vehicle on federal highway 307, between Puerto Morelos and Cancun. The cause of the incident, which occurred around 1 a.m. on Wednesday, is still unknown. The bus crashed into a sign on the central divider near Puerto Morelos.
Initial reports suggest that the driver may have failed to account for the road conditions, leading to the loss of control. The bus first collided with the curb before crashing into the sign due to its momentum.
Witnesses at the scene were able to rescue the driver who sustained several bruises and scratches, but thankfully, no serious injuries. Officers from the Traffic Department and Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly after. After assessing the situation, they arranged for a tow truck to transport the damaged bus to the impound yard.
The driver was taken to the IMSS hospital in Region 510 of Cancun for further evaluation by medical staff.
