A man, believed to be an employee of Cancún International Airport, was caught filming a female passenger without her consent on a Route 69 van heading to Plaza Las Américas. The incident, which allegedly took place on the evening of January 2nd, quickly spread across social media platforms, sparking outrage among public transport users in the Benito Juárez municipality.

Witnesses report that the woman confronted the man after realizing he was filming her with his cellphone. The situation escalated when fellow passengers stepped in to ensure the man did not leave without first deleting the captured images. During the confrontation, the man dropped an ID card identifying him as an airport employee, which the woman kept as evidence.

Despite initially denying the accusations, the man was forced to show his phone to the other passengers, who confirmed he had taken pictures of the woman. Even after he deleted the images in front of everyone, the anger of the woman and other passengers remained high. The woman stated she would be filing a formal complaint against the man at Cancún International Airport.

The incident, which has gone viral on social media, has led to a surge of users expressing their outrage and calling for stricter measures to prevent harassment on public transport, as well as severe penalties for those found guilty of such acts.

This event has reignited discussions about safety on Cancún's public transportation. It underscores the urgent need for strategies to protect women and young people, who are often targets of harassment in public spaces, particularly on public transport. It remains unclear whether the woman will file a legal complaint with the State Attorney's Office (FGE) if her complaint at the airport is not addressed and the alleged employee is not penalized. To date, the man's identity has not been disclosed; his physical appearance is only known from the video shared on social media.
