Cancun International Airport has surpassed a significant milestone by conducting 552 operations on a single Saturday, with 389 of these being international flights. Southeast Airports (ASUR) has announced that these operations included 276 landings and an equal number of take-offs, as well as 163 domestic flights.
However, it wasn't all smooth sailing. Aeromexico, one of the airlines operating out of Cancun, was forced to cancel its flights AM 508 and AM 525 to and from Mexico City. This resulted in passengers needing to be rebooked onto different flights or on different days, causing some inconvenience.
The international flights on this record-breaking Saturday connected Cancun with 65 destinations worldwide. These included cities such as Amsterdam, Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Birmingham, Bogota, Boston, Calgary, Camagüey, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Edmonton, Istanbul, Fort Lauderdale, Frankfurt, Glasgow, Guatemala, Halifax, Hamilton, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Kitchener, Havana, Lima, London, and Los Angeles.
