Erwin David, Ángel de Jesús, and Pedro Francisco, known as "Pancho Trocas", have been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking, a crime against public health. Pedro Francisco, the alleged leader of the Los Bonfiles Cartel, is a key figure in the Quintana Roo state Crime Atlas.
The General Prosecutor's Office reported that the Investigative Police, part of the Special Prosecutor's Office combating drug crimes, made the arrests. The suspects were apprehended on Miguel Hidalgo Avenue in the 259th district of Cancun. During a routine check, the police seized a variety of substances resembling marijuana and crystal meth, a firearm, and a vehicle.
The detainees and the evidence were handed over to the Public Ministry, who will determine their legal status within the constitutional timeframe. Preliminary investigations suggest that "Pancho Trocas" is a significant independent criminal leader and is a priority target in the state's Crime Atlas. He is suspected of involvement in drug trafficking and instigating violence in Cancun.
The accused has previously been incarcerated at the Benito Juarez Social Reintegration Center for his alleged involvement in crimes against public health. He is also suspected of possessing, manufacturing, importing, and stockpiling illegal weapons.
