Antonio Pérez Garibay, father of Red Bull driver, Sergio 'Checo' Pérez, has announced that Cancún is on track to host its own Formula 1 Grand Prix in 2026. According to Pérez Garibay, the project is 70% complete and is very likely to happen.

He has been in discussions with relevant parties and is confident that the plans will come to fruition. Importantly, he stressed that the addition of the Cancún GP will not interfere with the existing Mexican GP.

Pérez Garibay also expressed optimism regarding his son's future in F1, confidently predicting that Checo will become a world champion at some point.
