Cancún's hotel industry is facing ongoing challenges due to a significant staff shortage, currently estimated at around 8%. The Association of Hotels in Cancún, Puerto Morelos, and Isla Mujeres has emphasized the continuous need for more workers to address this issue.

Regular job fairs are being held to help mitigate this shortage. Mario Machuca Sánchez, a representative from the Confederation of Revolutionary Workers and Peasants (CROC), has noted a particularly high demand for staff in areas such as housekeeping, kitchen work, and public area maintenance.

The CROC, which represents over 50,000 workers from more than 500 labor groups, has pointed out the ongoing turnover of employees seeking better opportunities. This results in a continuous need for new hires. José Chapur, owner of the Palace Resorts Group, has also highlighted the importance of providing childcare facilities within hotels to accommodate employees with children.

Efforts to address these staffing issues are crucial in maintaining the high service standards in Cancún's tourism sector.
