Francisco Fernandez, the president of the Nautical Association in Cancun, has voiced concerns about the ongoing difficulties faced by maritime businesses in Cancun. These challenges stem from the repeated closures of the navigation port and the subsequent negative economic impact on those involved in nautical activities.

Fernandez highlights that five companies are on the brink of shutting down. The strong winds are preventing these businesses, particularly those offering parasailing services, from operating.

At present, the port has experienced intermittent closures for a total of 45 days. Predictions suggest that the port will face another closure next weekend. This would bring the cumulative closure period closer to 60 days, a milestone previously reached in 2023.
