MEXTENIS has announced the return of professional women's tennis to Mexico with the Cancún Open WTA 125. This event marks the end of a five-year break from hosting women's tournaments. The competition will be held at the Cancún Country Club Residencial & Golf from February 9-16, 2025, which will serve as the permanent venue for the tournament.

The aim of this new event is to establish itself as a leading tournament in the southeast region of Mexico, further solidifying Mexico's place in the professional tennis circuit. Tournament director Carlos Saiz Díaz Infante expressed that this presents an excellent opportunity for Mextenis and Cancún to promote female players and cultivate a solid fan base in southeastern Mexico.
