The State Police and the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) have initiated an investigation into an incident involving Juan Manuel Velázquez Roblero, the Deputy Director of Preventive Police of the Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit in the municipality of Benito Juárez.

Ana Patricia Peralta de la Peña, the municipal president of Benito Juárez, announced that these departments will work alongside the Department of Internal Affairs of the Municipal Police to establish the facts of the incident that took place in the early hours of December 29. It is alleged that Velázquez Roblero, also known by his code name 'Géminis', fled from an establishment and crashed his vehicle on Bonampak Avenue.

Upon learning of the incident, Peralta de la Peña requested that Carlos Ernesto D'amiano Sumuano, Secretary of Citizen Security and Municipal Transit, suspend Velázquez Roblero to protect the reputation of the police department. She emphasized the sacrifices public servants make, including personal freedoms and the need to avoid situations that could lead to controversy or scandal.

The investigation will also look into the involvement of other officers who may have participated in the incident. According to reports, following an altercation at a bar in the Bull Ring area, Velázquez Roblero left in haste, allegedly while intoxicated, crashed his vehicle on Bonampak Avenue, and then fled the scene. This prompted the Director of Internal Affairs to open an investigation.
