Shocking Discovery: Cancún Police Officer Among Slain Bodies

Two police pickup trucks parked on the side of a road with tropical vegetation in the background and a clear sky above.

One of the four bodies discovered this morning on the highway between Puerto Morelos and Cancun has been identified as Argenis Andrey, an active officer of the Municipal Citizen Security and Transit Secretariat (SMSCyT). Andrey was assigned to sector 3 and had reportedly requested a few days off.

Neither the SMSCyT nor the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) have released a statement regarding the deceased officer. Like the other three bodies found on highway 307, around kilometer 338 in the Puerto Morelos-Cancun section, Andrey suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

It remains unclear whether senior officials had any evidence linking Andrey to organized crime, or if other officers could potentially be involved.
