Unveiling the Hottest Travel Destination in America!

In 2023, international tourism saw a staggering 1.3 billion travelers. The demand for air travel to various destinations across the continent more than doubled over the past year, according to a joint report by Amadeus and the United Nations.

The top ten cities with the highest volume of airline reservations in America were New York, Cancún, Punta Cana, Orlando, Los Angeles, Miami, Vancouver, Toronto, Montego Bay, and San Francisco.

Travel searches for May and August in America surged by 132% compared to the same period in 2023. Airlines have responded to this growing demand, with the capacity in available seats increasing by 111% during this period.

In North America, the most sought-after cities by travelers were New York, Toronto, and Los Angeles. The report also highlighted the introduction of 20 new international routes to the United States, set to commence operations between May and July. These include routes from Dublin to Denver, Frankfurt to San Antonio, Paris to Phoenix, Faro to New York, Munich to Seattle, Portugal to Boston, and Zurich to Atlanta.

In Mexico, three new routes will begin operations between May and July: Montreal to Tulum, Toronto to Tulum, and Vancouver to Guadalajara.

In Central America, Costa Rica was the most searched country. Meanwhile, in South America, Argentina and Brazil topped the list, particularly the cities of Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, and Santiago. In the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic was the most attractive destination for travelers.

According to data from the United Nations Tourism, there were 1.3 billion international tourists worldwide in 2023, marking a 34% increase from 2022. The forecast for 2024 suggests that the demand for travel will remain robust.

Francisco Pérez-Lozao, President of Hospitality at Amadeus, noted that travelers' search patterns change throughout the year. He stressed the importance for organizations to stay updated on current trends and potential shifts in the industry.
