In a recent incident near the City Express hotel in Cancún, a taxi driver from the Andrés Quintana Roo Union reportedly attacked an Uber vehicle, smashing its windows. The Uber driver had just dropped off tourists at the hotel when the attack occurred.
The Uber driver suggested that the taxi driver had deliberately targeted his vehicle. The damage was primarily to the side windows and a section of the panoramic window.
The tourists who had been dropped off at the hotel remained at the scene in support of the Uber driver, waiting for local authorities to arrive and document the incident.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred. Uber drivers reported a similar attack at the Cancún airport recently, where the window of an Uber vehicle was also broken. In response to these attacks, Uber drivers held a demonstration in March outside the company's offices in downtown Cancún, located in the Azuna building. The drivers demanded increased security, protesting with cries of "they are killing us".
