Cancún's taxi union has responded to criticisms from influencer Luisito Comunica, who referred to them as "rats". The union feels that Comunica unfairly generalized and misrepresented the taxi drivers.

The Caribbean's Union of Drivers, Taxi Drivers, and Similar, "Andrés Quintana Roo", released a statement. They clarified that the vehicles charging fares in the Cancún Airport area are not taxis. Instead, they are operated by a private transport company with federal permits.

The Quintana Roo government has expressed a willingness to discuss transport tariffs. However, it emphasized that these tariffs are regulated by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transport.
