Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa has announced that Spanish investors will be opening and constructing five new hotels in the Mexican Caribbean by 2025. These new establishments will add 2,500 rooms, bolstering the area's tourism infrastructure and creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
The Excellence Group revealed plans for a hotel development in Puerto Morelos during a meeting at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2025. Other upcoming openings include the Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres, set to open its doors on February 12th. Further developments include the H10 Costa Mujeres Hotel by H10 Group, the Riu Ventura Hotel by Riu Group in Cancún, and a new Cancún hotel by Meliá Hotels Group.
In the coming months, these hotel groups will disclose the total investment amounts and the number of jobs that will be created, benefiting the residents of Quintana Roo. Governor Lezama expressed her confidence in the second phase of the Fourth Transformation, a project spearheaded by President Claudia Sheinbaum.
This new wave of development is part of a broader strategy to strengthen sustainability, diversify tourism, and promote shared prosperity in Quintana Roo. The aim is to ensure that everyone benefits from the success of the tourism industry and no one is left behind.
