Cancun is set to host the second "Visionaries Summit" from February 5th to 7th, 2025. This event, organized by the City Accelerator, is a congress of mayors that first took place earlier this year at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University.

The municipal president of Benito Juárez, Ana Patricia Peralta de la Peña, announced the event. She explained that the goal of the summit is to unite 20 mayors from various municipalities across Mexico. They will come together to share effective governmental practices, successful projects, and strategies that can be replicated in other cities.

Peralta de la Peña emphasized the importance of this event, as the attending mayors will be at the beginning of their administrations. This timing allows for the sharing of experiences and the gathering of tools for effective governance in various areas.

"We are honored that Cancun is hosting the Second Mayors Congress of the City Accelerator. We will invite 20 mayors from across the country to share ideas, significant projects, and good practices that can be implemented in other cities. This is particularly relevant as many of them are starting their administrations, which will enhance their management," said the mayor.

The congress will also include presentations from national and international experts on topics related to public administration and citizen service. Over the four-day event, they will address innovative strategies and success stories that can be applied to Mexican cities.

The first congress saw participation from 20 municipal presidents and 10 nationally and internationally renowned speakers. They represented states including Nuevo Leon, Mexico City, Baja California, Sonora, Guanajuato, State of Mexico, Puebla, Coahuila, Chiapas, Morelos, Jalisco, Guerrero, and Quintana Roo.

Dino Cantú, director of the City Accelerator, highlighted the purpose of the event: "If problems have no borders, solutions should also have none. The Visionaries Summit is an unprecedented effort in the country. Our goal is to facilitate the exchange of good practices between Mexican cities, in collaboration with universities from Mexico and other parts of the world."

This event further establishes Cancun as a leader in the creation of innovative strategies and collaborative projects that promote urban development and good governance in Mexico.
