Cancun, Quintana Roo, is set to host the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Cancun Tennis Open 2025. The announcement was made by the State Secretary of Tourism, Bernardo Cueto Riestra. The tournament is scheduled to take place from February 9 to 15, 2025, at the Cancun Country Club.
This event further solidifies Quintana Roo's status as a key destination for hosting world-class sports events. "The WTA Cancun Tennis Open's arrival in Cancun signifies the Mexican Caribbean's growing prominence as a sports tourism destination. It also underscores Quintana Roo's importance in the international events calendar," said Cueto Riestra.
The WTA Cancun Tennis Open will gather top women's tennis players from across the globe at the Cancun Country Club. The WTA is the leading organization in professional women's tennis, boasting a history of more than 1,650 players from 85 different countries.
Cueto Riestra emphasized that the WTA Cancun Tennis Open is not just a fantastic opportunity for tennis enthusiasts. It also reaffirms Quintana Roo's status as a premier tourist destination, attracting thousands of domestic and international tourists. This influx of visitors will generate a positive economic impact on the state, contributing to shared prosperity, in line with the New Era of Tourism initiative.
