A tragic incident unfolded on Christmas day in Cancún, where a woman and her 10-year-old son were fatally shot. Miraculously, the grandmother and another young girl managed to escape the scene unharmed.
In other news, it has been clarified that charges for recreational sport fishing, both boat-based and underwater, have been in place since October 14, 2024. However, these charges had not been previously enforced due to an agreement with the SHCP.
Importantly, it was noted that fees for services in archaeological areas will only apply to tourists, both domestic and international. Residents of Quintana Roo, however, will be exempt from these charges.
Looking ahead, by 2025, local taxpayers will only be required to pay for updates to existing charges. New taxes will be introduced but will be exclusively applicable to national and foreign visitors.
