Seven exceptional young individuals from Cancun were recently honored with the "Reconocerte Joven" Youth Merit Award. This event marked the conclusion of Youth Month and was the second edition of the award ceremony.

The recipients of the award were Edwin Yajhat Soria Rodríguez for his contributions to science and technology; Isaac Gómez Sánchez for his work in environmental and animal responsibility; Isaac Rodríguez Flores for his social and civic action; José Fernando Cruz Manzur for his advocacy in gender and sexual diversity; Karla Mariana Barrera Medrano for her entrepreneurship; Lucía Elizabeth Gaona de León for her efforts in inclusion; and Sherly Karina Canul Correa for her work in promoting culture and the arts.

The award ceremony was held at the Plaza of the Cecilio Chi gymnasium as part of the "Ser Cancun Festival". The festival included workshops, photographic exhibitions, and the "Co’ox Bazar", a marketplace featuring a variety of stalls run by young entrepreneurs. These stalls offered a range of products including crafts, aromatherapies, cosmetics, artistic paintings, pastries, graphic arts, and t-shirts.

"This is the first festival of its kind, but we plan to make it an annual event," said Danielle Camargo Dávila Madrid, the head of the Municipal Institute of Youth (IMJUVE). She also mentioned that the festival hosted 10 events throughout the month, attracting over 4,000 young participants.

In addition to the awards, the municipal authorities also recognized civil associations that contributed to the festival during the Youth Month closing event.
