The Gran Puerto Cancún recently hosted the monthly meeting for Cancún's Winelovers. This gastronomic venue served as the perfect backdrop for a delightful pairing dinner. The attendees were warmly welcomed by the restaurant manager, Alex Tamayo, who ensured every detail was perfect for an unforgettable evening.

The night kicked off with a mixology class featuring "Puerto de Indias" gin, a product of an ancient distillery in Seville, one of the oldest in Andalusia, Spain. The cocktail preparation was both fun and educational, with the mixologist offering a masterclass in just a few minutes.

Following the cocktail session, the dinner began with a first course of mixed mango ceviche with curry, paired with a 2021 Siglo XXI reserve, Sauvignon Blanc from the Maule Valley. The second course featured clams shaken with a 2022 Rosé from G&G of El Cielo, Guadalupe Valley. The third course was a true Gran Puerto and Cocina con caché style dish, featuring tacos with pressed pork rind and guajillo octopus, enjoyed with a 2021 Siglo XXI Gran Reserva wine, Pinot Noir from the Maule Valley.

The fourth course offered a casserole of sautéed prawns with a cream-chipotle sauce and peppers, paired with a 2022 Lazos Tinto wine from Cava Quintanilla, San Luis Potosí, Mexico. The dinner concluded with a classic Gran Puerto dish, a Grouper fillet marinated in traditional pastor marinade, accompanied by a 2018 Merlot from Corona del Valle.

Representatives from the wine distributors who participate in the Winelovers meetings added to the evening's enjoyment by sharing information and anecdotes about the wines served during dinner. This further enhanced the pairing dinner experience at the spectacular Gran Puerto Cancún.
