Plaza Flamingo, a bustling shopping center in Cancun during the 80s and 90s, has been on the market for over five years. Despite interest from potential buyers, the sale has yet to be finalized. Located at kilometer 11.5 of Boulevard Kukulcán, the plaza was a landmark for both tourists and locals for many years.
Covering 20,612 square meters, with 13,877 square meters dedicated to the shopping center, Plaza Flamingo was once the heart of glamour and commerce in Cancun. It was one of the first shopping plazas in the area to host internationally recognized establishments and saw many high-profile events with Hollywood celebrities.
Plaza Flamingo's legacy is marked by the presence of renowned international franchises that once drew in crowds seeking unique experiences. Establishments like Pat O’Briens, Planet Hollywood, Outback Steak House, Margaritaville, and Bubba Gump were pillars of Cancun's culinary and entertainment scene.
The mid-90s opening of Planet Hollywood was an international event, attended by Hollywood icons such as Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, who owned the franchise.
In the 90s, Pat O’Briens became a must-visit destination for tourists, especially during the spring break season. This added even more allure and fame to Plaza Flamingo.
