This morning, a reckless driver in a private car lost control and flipped over on the Puerto Aventuras Mayor's Office bridge. The black Volkswagen Jetta, registered in the state of Yucatán, was traveling north to south on Federal Highway 307 when it ran off the road and flipped onto the bridge's side lane. The car ended up on its tires and suffered substantial damage. It is believed that the driver managed to escape without injury and left the scene.
At the time of the accident, a bus from the Del Valle company, number 433, attempted to pass the scene. However, it collided with a parked GEAVIG patrol car, number 82060, which was cordoning off the accident area. The collision left both vehicles entangled.
Additional units from the Solidaridad municipal security and traffic departments arrived at the scene. They moved the bus and the patrol car to the entrance of the Puerto Aventuras town.
Later, the National Guard highway division took charge of the overturned car. With the help of an on-duty tow truck, they transferred the vehicle to the impound lot for liability determination.
