The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) has announced the State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC) 2024, which will be held from September 2 to 6, 2024, in the Cayman Islands. The theme of the conference is "Tourism in the Caribbean: the fuel of our life". The event aims to bring together regional and global leaders, influencers, and stakeholders to discuss the critical issues shaping the Caribbean tourism sector.
Kenneth Bryan, President of the CTO and Minister of Tourism and Ports of the Cayman Islands, stated that the conference will focus on addressing key challenges, exploring innovative solutions, and planning for the future of Caribbean tourism. The event will also highlight the unique culture and hospitality of the Cayman Islands to delegates from around the world.
The conference program will feature presentations from key executives in technology, aviation, cruise, and sustainability sectors. These experts will share their insights on the latest trends and innovations that are shaping the future of Caribbean tourism. The agenda, which was recently announced, will kick off with CTO business procedures on September 2 and 3, including sessions for the Board of Directors and the Ministerial Council.
The conference will also host the Regional Youth Congress in Tourism, where students aged 14 to 17 from CTO member countries and territories will compete to become youth ambassadors. In addition, there will be sessions exploring the impact of artificial intelligence on Caribbean travel, focusing on how it is transforming customer experiences, operational efficiencies, and destination management.
Attendees will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights into how emerging technologies are transforming the travel experience, the changing dynamics of air and cruise travel to the region, and innovative approaches to sustainable tourism development. Dona Regis-Prosper, Secretary-General and CEO of the CTO, highlighted the resilience and adaptability of the Caribbean tourism sector and emphasized the need to build on this momentum.
