The Cha'an Ka'an Planetarium in Cozumel is hosting a photographic exhibition titled "Biodiversity in the face of Climate Change: footprints in the European Union and Mexico". The exhibition will run from this week until August 17.

The exhibit is an initiative by the Delegation of the European Union in Mexico and features 24 of the 42 images that make up the complete collection. The full exhibit can be viewed digitally at www.climayvidauemx.org.

The photographs were taken by around thirty photographers from a variety of countries including Belgium, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Spain, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Romania, Sweden, and Mexico. The images depict landscapes, flora, mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects, showcasing the biodiversity of Europe and the initiatives being implemented to protect it.

The exhibit, which is free to the public, aims to illustrate the connection between combating climate change and preserving biological diversity. It emphasizes the importance of maintaining a balance between the health of the planet and humanity.

This event is part of the celebrations for the Fiftieth anniversary of the Free and Sovereign State of Quintana Roo and the 28th anniversary of the Cozumel Reef National Park. The exhibition was inaugurated in Cozumel by notable figures including Gautier Mignot, the Ambassador of the European Union (EU) in Mexico; Óscar Rébora, the Secretary of Ecology and Environment; Juanita Alonso Marrufo, the municipal president of Cozumel; Javier Carballar Osorio, the head of the Institute of Biodiversity and Protected Natural Areas of the State; Blanca Quiroga, the representative of Conanp in Cozumel; and Javier Arribas from the Delegation of the European Union in Mexico.
