José Luis "Chanito" Toledo, former syndicate candidate of the PAN-PRI Alliance, has condemned the recent elections in Solidaridad as the dirtiest in the region's history. Toledo has dismissed the victory of Estefanía Mercado, representing the Morena, PVEM, and PT parties, and is demanding the election be nullified.
Toledo has announced that he will not recognize the candidates of the Verde and Morena parties, including those in Othón P. Blanco with Lidia Rojas, in Cozumel with Pedro Joaquín, in Puerto Morelos, and in Tulum. He claims these elections were riddled with lies and irregularities.
He stated, "Never in the history of Solidaridad and Quintana Roo has there been such a dirty, shameful electoral process. What happened verges on the absurd in terms of the democratic possibilities of a modern Mexico."
Toledo hopes that Lili Campos and her legal team will call for the elections to be nullified, repeated, or for the ballot boxes to be opened to expose any potential stuffing. He claims that the Verde party, in collaboration with government secretary Cristina Torres and members of the Prosecutor's Office, were responsible for buying votes in this election process.
Toledo believes that just over 50,000 people came out to vote for Lili and many others for a different project. However, he condemns the alleged massive purchase of votes using QR codes by the Verde party.
According to Toledo, this election theft must be combated by documenting all that transpired. He argues that the will of the people was stolen for political gain. He admonished Estefanía Mercado, stating, "You did not win the election, you are trying to steal it unfairly. You will go down in history along with Cristina Torres, and those who are accompanying you, as a woman who stole and robbed to reach power. This is not what we want in Mexico."
