Quintana Roo, Mexico — The state of Quintana Roo will host Children's Day celebrations in 100 communities, aiming to bring joy and entertainment to more than 30,000 minors. The events, organized by the DIF Quintana Roo system, will feature performances, sweets, cake, and toys, all free of charge for families.
Large-Scale Events Planned Across Municipalities
Verónica Lezama, honorary president of DIF Quintana Roo, confirmed that six major events will take place in municipal capitals, beginning in Cozumel. Additional celebrations are scheduled for Chetumal, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, and Tulum. In Cancún alone, festivities will be held in 10 neighborhoods, with the main event at the city’s bullring.
Lezama referenced the success of January’s "Three Kings Day" initiative as inspiration for the expanded Children’s Day programming. "The idea is to share as a family and build community," she said.
Free Access and Warnings Against Fraud
Authorities emphasized that all events are entirely free and urged families to report any attempts to sell tickets or charge for entry. "Simply arrive at the location in advance, line up, enter the venue, and enjoy the party," Lezama stated.
Event Schedule
- April 25–26: Isla Mujeres
- April 30: Tulum
- May 1: Cancún (Plaza de Toros)
- May 2: Chetumal
- May 7: Playa del Carmen
Smaller celebrations will also occur in rural Mayan communities, including José María Morelos, Lázaro Cárdenas, and Felipe Carrillo Puerto, on April 26.
Coordination with local governments will ensure that every child receives a gift and participates in activities such as piñata breaks. The initiative seeks to provide a memorable experience for families across the state.
