The National Water Commission (CONAGUA) has forecasted strong north winds and high swells for the coasts of Veracruz, Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan, and Quintana Roo today, February 24. Wind speeds are expected to range from 30 to 40 km/h with gusts up to 60 km/h. As of now, the ports in Yucatan remain open until further notice from port and state authorities.

The morning in Yucatan began with a partly cloudy sky and a chance of scattered showers in the northeast, with lighter rain expected across the rest of the state. The weather is expected to be warm during the day and cool at dawn, with north-northeast winds of 30 to 40 km/h and gusts up to 60 km/h along the Yucatan coast.

Cold Front No. 29 is set to move over southeastern Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula. In combination with the moist air from the Gulf of Mexico, it will cause heavy localized rainfall in Chiapas, Tabasco, and Quintana Roo, and intermittent showers in Yucatan, Campeche, Veracruz, and Puebla. Wind gusts of 40 to 60 km/h are expected in these areas.

Persistent heavy rainfall is also anticipated in Oaxaca, Chiapas, Tabasco, and Quintana Roo, with intermittent showers in Guerrero, Puebla, Veracruz, Campeche, and Yucatan.

According to the Maritime Secretariat's Meteorological Unit, the cold front extends over the North Yucatan and Campeche Sonda regions. Fog has been reported along the coasts of Campeche, Yucatan, Quintana Roo, southern Veracruz, Tabasco, Tamaulipas, and central Veracruz.

The Yucatan Peninsula woke up to a partly cloudy sky with some low clouds in the center and south. The weather is expected to be mild and warm. Over the next 24 hours, a trough over the Yucatan Peninsula, associated with a low-pressure system in the Gulf of Mexico, will cause scattered showers in Quintana Roo and northeastern Yucatan, as well as isolated rain in central and southern Campeche.

In the northwest municipalities, including the state capital, the chance of rainfall is low, but light isolated rain is possible in the late afternoon and early evening. The weather is expected to be hot, with maximum temperatures ranging from 32° to 36°C inland and 27° to 29°C along the coast.
