The Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) has approved plans for Kanapark, a 1,400 meter inflatable water park set to be located near the Palladium hotel in Costa Mujeres. This development is part of an effort to boost tourist attractions in the area.
The recreational park, which will require an investment of $2.7 million, will boast 27 anchored inflatables. Despite the anticipated environmental impacts, measures will be put in place to mitigate any potential harm.
The project involves setting up inflatable games in the marine area adjacent to the beachfront of the "Grand Palladium Paraíso Mujeres Resort and Spa" on the Chacmuchuch peninsula. The 27 inflatables will be interconnected, creating a circuit. These inflatables are designed to endure years of use under extreme conditions such as sea exposure, high temperatures, and solar radiation.
The park's maximum operational capacity is estimated at 90 people, based on the size and manufacturer's recommendations. All visitors can be present at the park at the same time.
During the initial site preparation, the area will be marked out with cylindrical buoys. The fabrication and installation of anchor weights will secure the buoys and floating components. The project's promoters have assured that there is no sea grass in the planned park area.
However, they will conduct monitoring to check conditions near the project area and observe the behavior of the anchor weights. Two points were added to the sea grass monitoring plan for the Master Plan Paraíso Mujeres project due to the installed anchors.
