The Parks and Museums Foundation of Cozumel (FPMC) is encouraging locals and tourists alike to attend the 21st annual "Sunday Parade." The event, championed by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, aims to preserve and promote the customs of Quintana Roo, thereby reinforcing the state's cultural identity and fostering a sense of community among its citizens.
Scheduled for March 2, the parade will kick off at 10:00 am in front of the Island Museum. The event will feature 14 dance groups, including the reigning sovereigns of the 2025 Carnival. According to Juanita Alonso, the "Sunday Parade" is designed to celebrate local customs and fortify the island's cultural identity. She notes that the event also draws national and international visitors who come to participate in the Carnival, offering them a unique insight into Cozumel's culture.
This year's parade will showcase several groups and categories, including "FPMC's Latin Beauties, Children's Category", "Festum Fantasy, Free Category", and "Enigma, Youth Category", among others. The executive director of the FPMC also revealed that performances from Laura Cárdenas's dance group, the Queen of Ladies Show, Fer Kerr's parade, King of the Carnival, and América de la Rocha, Queen of the Carnival, are also on the agenda.
The FPMC is once again urging the community to partake in this grand celebration that bolsters Cozumel's cultural identity. The parade will be held in front of the Island Museum, situated on Rafael E. Melgar Avenue, between 4th and 6th north streets.
