As part of the Marine Turtle Protection Program, the Subdirectorate of Ecology has overseen the release of 300 turtle hatchlings at Chen Río beach in Cozumel. These young turtles are now embarking on their journey to the ocean.

The event was attended by environmental brigades, local workers, and members of the public.

Before the hatchlings were released, technicians from the San Martin turtle camp provided an environmental education talk. The aim of this talk was to highlight the importance of preserving marine wildlife in Cozumel.

Cozumel is home to over 4,000 turtle nests that are currently under protection. This past weekend marked the release of 300 hatchlings into the wild.

These initiatives demonstrate the commitment of the municipal government, led by President José Luis Chacón, to preserving biodiversity and promoting environmental education within the community.
