A new photographic exhibition titled “Biodiversity in the face of Climate Change: footprints in the European Union and Mexico” has been launched in Cozumel. The European Union (EU) Ambassador to Mexico, Gautier Mignot, along with state and local authorities, inaugurated the exhibition at the Cha’an Ka’an Cozumel Planetarium. The event coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Free and Sovereign State of Quintana Roo and the 28th anniversary of the Cozumel Reefs National Park. The exhibition aims to raise awareness about environmental conservation and the importance of biodiversity.

The exhibition features 24 photographs from 12 European countries including Belgium, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Spain, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands, Romania, and Sweden, as well as from Mexico. The images depict landscapes, flora, mammals, birds, reptiles, and insects, showcasing the rich biodiversity of these regions and the various initiatives undertaken to protect it. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge until August 17th.

The goal of the exhibition is to highlight the connection between combating climate change and preserving biological diversity. It emphasizes the need to strike a balance between the health of the planet and the wellbeing of humanity. This initiative underscores the commitment of the European Union and Mexico to tackle climate change and conserve biodiversity, stressing the importance of international collaboration in addressing these critical global issues.
