The council's purpose is to create mechanisms and procedures for social and cultural participation in civic justice, specifically for security matters on the island.
Mayor Chacón stressed that safety has always been a top priority for the island. As such, comprehensive measures are necessary to protect the community's life, freedoms, and property. These efforts contribute to public order and social peace, and are approached with intelligence, professionalism, honesty, and respect for human rights.
The establishment of this Municipal Council aims to promote good local practices and communicate a vision of public safety to the community. The local government is also doing its part to enhance safety by investing in the rehabilitation of parks, sports facilities, streets, and providing vehicles for athletes. They are also implementing training in schools to guide students towards positive behaviors. All these actions aim to improve the living conditions of the island community and ensure collective well-being.

The council, led by President José Luis Chacón Méndez, includes Town Hall Secretary Margarita del Rosario Vázquez Barrios and Director of Public Safety and Transit, Fernando González Felipe, among others.
