The port in Cozumel is now open for small vessels and recreational water activities. However, the maritime community is urged to heed instructions from the port authority. Despite the reopening, hot temperatures are expected to persist and no rainfall is anticipated.
A high-pressure system over the central northern Atlantic Ocean is causing southeast and east winds to blow across the forecasted area. These winds will continue to influence the weather over the Yucatan Peninsula throughout the week, sustaining the current temperatures.
The sky is expected to be partly cloudy with scattered clouds for the majority of the day. No rain is forecasted, and southeast and east winds are predicted to range from 18 to 27 kph. Waves in the Yucatan channel are expected to be between 2 to 5 feet.
The maximum temperatures are forecasted to range from 32 to 34°C, with minimum temperatures for the next day ranging from 27 to 29°C. Mornings and evenings are expected to be warm, with the rest of the day being very hot. The heat index could reach up to 40°C between 2 and 4 PM.
Residents and visitors are advised to stay informed about the prevailing conditions in the forecast area. They are also urged to exercise caution due to the high temperatures, heat index, and ultraviolet rays between 10 AM and 4 PM. There are currently no alerts for the state of Quintana Roo. The port was reopened to small vessels on Sunday, after nearly a week-long suspension of recreational water activities.
