In Cozumel, a significant increase in sargassum accumulation has been observed on the eastern side of the island. Despite the limited workforce, up to three and a half tons of this seaweed have been collected and transported to the southern part of the island.

This information was shared by Milton Zavala Aradillas, the director of the Federal Maritime and Terrestrial Zone (Zofemat). He also noted that despite ongoing recruitment efforts, there seems to be a lack of interest among the local population in participating in the sargassum collection efforts.
