Cozumel, also known as the Island of Swallows, has further established itself as a leading global tourist destination. The island welcomed a record-breaking 35 cruise ships in the first half of December, marking a promising start to the high season. This surge in arrivals included a day that saw eight cruise ships docking, according to Vagner Elbiorn Vega, the general director of the Comprehensive Port Administration of Quintana Roo (APIQROO).

APIQROO's projections indicate that between December 9 and 15, up to eight cruise ships are expected to arrive in a single day. This makes this week one of the busiest of the year. On Monday, six cruise ships arrived, followed by seven on Tuesday. Wednesday was a standout day with eight ships docking, marking a significant milestone in the island's port activity. Five ships are expected to arrive on both Thursday and Friday, with three more on Saturday, and one on Sunday.

This Wednesday was particularly noteworthy with the arrival of eight cruise ships: Hercules of the Waters, Mein Schiff 1, Voyager of the Waters, MSC Seaside, Carnival Valor, Margaritaville on the Island, Sun Princess, and Seven Seas Grandeur. In total, around 29,807 travelers are projected to arrive during this period. The Cozumel community warmly welcomes these visitors, who will experience the island's stunning beauty and hospitality.

Vega emphasized that this achievement is a testament to the collaborative efforts between authorities, navigation companies, and the local community to bolster Cozumel's reputation as a premier sea tourism destination. He assured that the island is well-prepared to accommodate the influx of tourists with high-quality services.

This record-breaking accomplishment signifies a new era of tourism for Cozumel. The aim is not only to attract more visitors but also to ensure that the benefits and advancements of the tourism industry are shared among all local families. This aligns with the New Agreement for the Welfare and Development of Quintana Roo, a plan championed by Governor Mara Lezama.

"We are committed to promoting tourism that generates shared prosperity, drives our economy, and preserves the natural and cultural riches that make Cozumel a unique place in the world," Vega stated.
