The Cozumel Hotel Association has announced plans to enhance the island's tourism industry with a new campaign and an event called the Cozumel Vivo Fest. The Association's president, Beatriz Tinajero Tarriba, believes it's essential to showcase the unique attractions of the island.
The Association has aligned with the "New Era of the Mexican Caribbean" campaign, which aims to promote the Mexican Caribbean as a tourist destination. This campaign has captured stunning images of the location, which will help to draw more visitors to the various aspects of this holiday destination.
Tinajero Tarriba highlighted the need to create a distinct image for smaller destinations. She noted that while campaigns often successfully boost tourist numbers, places like Cozumel can be overshadowed by larger destinations such as the Riviera Maya or Cancun. She suggests that there is a need to develop a separate market for smaller, more intimate vacation spots.
She also drew attention to the upcoming Cozumel Vivo Fest, scheduled for July 18 to 21. The event is primarily aimed at millennials and will offer attendees a chance to connect directly with nature, art, and ancestral wisdom. The festival will provide several days of connection, healing, and fulfillment, with unique activities including visits to places like Chankanaab and traditional Mayan ceremonies.
The program will also feature yoga sessions, ancestral ceremonies, and music, with visits from "elders" from different regions of Mexico. Experts in wellness, child development, sports, sustainability, art, and culture will also be present. Although the event is targeted at a specific demographic, it is open to the general public.
The Cozumel Vivo Fest is not only expected to maintain traveler interest but also to promote other types of tourism. The island already offers a range of hotel and culinary experiences. Combined with the exploration of other segments, the event is expected to generate significant economic revenue for the island.
