“Shocking: Cozumel’s Tourism Monopoly Exposed!”

Multiple passenger vehicles including a touristic trolley, a minivan, and a coach bus parked in a tropical setting with palm trees in the background.

Cozumel, a popular tourist destination, is facing an ongoing issue of tourism monopolization. The Quintana Roo Tourist Promotion Council representative has highlighted that tourists coming from cruise ships are often exclusively directed to beach clubs owned by a single company. This company, which also owns the boats and transportation used by the tourists, is effectively monopolizing the tourism industry.

This monopoly is causing significant harm to local businesses on the island, who are missing out on potential benefits. The representative stated that the council is actively seeking solutions to this problem. They aim to provide tourists with the opportunity to explore the entire island, rather than being confined to one specific location.
